Choose your Christmas tree.

Compare Fraser fir, Canaan fir and blue spruce in the fields, with trees described as reaching up to 14ft depending on the species. Every tree carries a tag showing its variety, height and price. Measurement poles are available in the fields; bring a tape measure if your ceiling needs a precise fit, allowing for the height of your stand.

Pre-cut trees at the barn offer a shorter shopping visit, and small Charlie Brown trees give you a modest option for a little Christmas corner. Check the farm’s season announcement before setting out: the latest published season ended early to protect trees for future years.

The farm visit.

The wagon ride and getting your tree home

Borrow a hand saw from the field crew and take the family wagon ride out to find your tree. Wagon rides, shaking and baling are complimentary with a tree purchase, and the farm also provides free drilling. Chainsaws are not permitted.

Twine is available, but bring your own straps or rope to make securing the tree easier. Wear warm layers and boots suitable for muddy fields; a bag to kneel on can help keep your clothing dry while cutting. The wagon and fields are outdoors even though the Christmas Barn is heated.

The heated Christmas Barn and a keepsake ornament

Warm up in the restored nineteenth-century barn and browse handmade wreaths, garland, stockings, Christmas decorations and ornaments. Mutch’s clothing and hats make another gift to take home. Wreath building is also offered as a family activity.

The farm gives out its own collectible ornament each year, limited to one per family while supplies last. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted.

Santa in the log cabin

Bring the children to Santa’s heated log cabin during his posted visits. The detailed visiting schedule gives the dates below; check the farm’s next announcements before planning a Santa outing.

Bringing your dog and caring for the tree

Dogs are welcome outdoors on a leash, with owners responsible for cleanup. Dogs cannot enter the Christmas Barn.

At home, make a fresh cut across the base and put the tree into water promptly. Check the stand daily and keep its reservoir full. Place the tree away from heat sources and keep doorways clear.
