Choose your Christmas tree.
Sweet Providence’s Floyd farm grows Fraser fir, white pine, concolor and Canaan fir. Pick up a measuring pole at the store before walking the rows; its colored bands mark the feet so you can compare a tree with the space at home. Select and tag your choice, then cut it yourself with a supplied saw or let the crew cut it.
The crew shakes and bales the tree and helps load or tie it to the vehicle. No separate handling price is stated in this description. Tree prices depend on species and height and are posted at the farm, so read the tag or ask before selecting. Cash and cards are accepted.

The farm visit.
Choose the look and decorating style
The main varieties offer different decorating choices. Fraser and Canaan fir have firm branches for ornaments, while white pine has softer, flexible growth suited to lighter decorations. Concolor offers a blue-green look and citrus scent. Ask which sizes of your preferred variety are ready before walking the rows.
| Tree choice | Useful difference |
|---|---|
| Fraser fir | Soft, short needles with silvery undersides; firm, slightly upturned branches for heavier ornaments |
| White pine | Long, feathery needles, mild scent and flexible branches; best with lighter ornaments |
| Concolor fir | Long blue-green needles, citrus fragrance and sturdy, evenly spaced branches |
| Canaan fir | Soft dark-green needles, balsam-like fragrance and firm, well-spaced branches |
Living trees and blue spruce
The operator also offers blue spruce for Christmas and landscape use, and potted or balled evergreens starting around 2 feet. These rooted-tree formats are separate from selecting a field tree to cut. Arrange the available variety, size and collection needs before travelling for a living tree.
The Christmas store and bonfire
The farm store serves hot chocolate, local coffee and apple cider, with cookies and popcorn. A bonfire offers a place to warm up while the tree is prepared. Refreshments are offered without a published inclusion promise, so check their prices in the store.
Handmade ornaments and gifts, many made nearby, sit alongside farm hats, hoodies and tees. Children can bring a letter for the red Santa mailbox or write one at the counter; a return address gives Santa a way to reply, without guaranteeing a response.
Wreaths made from the farm’s fir
The operator’s greenery range runs from small door swags and wreaths to large made-to-order pieces. Choose plain greenery, a bow or a decorated finish, with optional cones; mixed-green work combines Fraser fir, white pine and boxwood. Garland is sold by the foot, so arrange the length and finish you need. Finishing choices include red velvet, plaid or burlap bows, along with berries and dried accents.
Wreath pickup can be arranged at either the Floyd farm or the Roanoke lot, starting on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Confirm the order, size, finish, price and pickup location, especially for made-to-order pieces.
| Greenery choice | Published size or arrangement |
|---|---|
| Small wreaths and door swags | Up to 18 inches |
| Classic wreaths | 20–24 inches |
| Statement wreaths | 30–48 inches |
| Large made-to-order wreaths | 5 feet and larger; arrange in advance |
| Finish | Plain, bow or decorated; optional cones |
| Mixed greens | Fraser fir, white pine and boxwood |
| Garland | By the foot; arrange the length needed |
Seasonal hours and dogs
The farm opens the Saturday before Thanksgiving and closes the Sunday before Christmas, with Friday–Sunday hours of 9am–5pm. Weather closures and late openings are posted on the farm’s social pages. Friendly leashed dogs are welcome.
Booked photography sessions
Photographers can arrange fall mini sessions among the rows, with the farm’s red pickup and wooden sleigh among the supported backdrops. Email the farm with dates and expected group size to arrange a session; it is separate from an ordinary tree purchase.
