Choose your Christmas tree.
Oak Shade grows white pine and Norway spruce on a hill in northern Culpeper County. The trees are hand-sheared for a natural shape, and the growers describe raising them without pesticides or herbicides. The narrative tree selection is narrower than generic association tags, so plan around these two named field choices and check remaining sizes before travelling.
Saws are supplied. After the visitor selects and cuts a tree, the farm bundles it and ties it onto the car. The posted seasonal baseline is Wednesday–Sunday, 9am–5pm, from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve; confirm current selling days and stock before the drive.
The operator also lists precut Fraser firs, from tabletop trees with a stand through 9–10-foot tiers. Those amounts are blank in the published catalog; confirm sizes and prices before travelling. The posted Norway-spruce price is $93 for any size, while the white-pine amount is not supplied.

The farm visit.
A family-made Christmas shop
The shop brings together local crafts and food, much of it made by the extended family. Wooden ornaments, kitchen pieces and toys sit alongside jams, apple butter, honey, baked goods, beeswax candles, handmade ornaments, pork and eggs. Wreaths, sprays, garland and centrepieces offer fresh-greenery choices, and stands and removal bags help with the tree setup.
MelloWood’s workshop is across from the gift shop. The artisan range includes handmade wooden furniture, woven runners and hooked rugs alongside smaller gifts. The separate year-round artisan store opens by appointment; that does not establish year-round Christmas-tree sales.

Well-behaved pets are welcome on a leash. The work number is the appropriate first farm contact; a separately labelled home number also appears in the farm profile. Follow Waterford Road to Waterford Run Lane rather than using a Rixeyville centre point.
The fields have uneven spots; wear suitable footwear and watch your step. Portable restrooms are provided.
