Weston’s choose-and-cut trees grow in a scenic field about an eighth of a mile from the farm market in Fryeburg, so the visit starts at the market. Check in at the farm first, then drive to the field. The farm describes thousands of Weston’s-grown Fraser and balsam fir trees, and it also offers trees already cut at the farm.
The farm’s tag prices depend on height, quality and species, and Fraser–balsam crosses cost more. Colored flagging at the tip of each tree shows its price. If a tree carries two different tags, the price is the higher one, because the other is the previous season’s. The farm’s previous season sheet said trees up to 10 feet tall were available and that quality trees over 8 feet go quickly, with the selection shrinking as Christmas approaches.
Its previous season sheet also described three rows of wild-trimmed trees, minimally trimmed for a more wild look. The farm has not said whether they return this season.

Choose-and-cut, step by step
These instructions come from the farm’s previous season sheet and map, the latest it has published; the farm has not posted new ones for this season. First check in at the farm market at 48 River Street. Then drive about an eighth of a mile to the field. The road is well maintained but a truck is best, and the farm’s map marks a hill where only one vehicle at a time can pass. The farm will provide a bow saw and twine if you need them, and you are welcome to bring your own saw.
There are no employees in the field to help, so be prepared to cut and load the tree yourself. Carry the tree back to the farm to pay, plus sales tax. The farm will wrap a tree for transport for a fee, and helps secure trees on vehicles on weekends only because of staffing. Dead needles inside a tree are normal; shake them out after cutting.
Tag colors and the last published prices
The farm has not published this season’s tree prices; confirm at the farm. The table shows its most recent published tag prices, from the previous season sheet. The farm does not say what heights each color covers, and there is additional sales tax.

The trees and the fields
The balsam fir is the traditional New England tree, known for its strong scent and dense shape. The farm’s Fraser fir is a cross with balsam: Fraser has stronger branches that hold their needles, and the balsam cross gives a denser shape and some scent.
The farm says a 7-foot tree is about 13 years old and that it uses no sprays on the trees. Its map codes fields as trees 6 feet and taller, trees 6 feet and under, Fraser–balsam cross and wild trimmed. Trees are not sold dug or replantable. The farm’s previous season sheet said it expected a busy season and would likely need to close the fields at some point to leave trees for future years, so it is best to come early.
Pre-cut trees, wreaths and the gift shop
You can also choose a tree already cut at the farm. The farm has not published species, sizes or prices for pre-cut trees; ask at the farm. The Christmas gift shop has new inventory, and the farm’s winter list includes wreaths and garland, and its November 7 print ad names partridgeberry wreaths, apples, cider and donuts, and squash and local potatoes. Prices for these are not published.
Nordic skiing at Stark’s Mountain, under a mile from the farm, is a separate winter sport described on its own website; the farm’s pages give no season or fees for it.
Fryeburg Market in the barn
Fryeburg Market is in a 225-year-old barn and sells produce, meats, cheeses, craft beer and wine, baked goods, and gifts from more than 100 Maine and New England vendors, along with Maine souvenirs. The farm is taking orders for Thanksgiving turkeys and pies; it has not published prices, how to order or pickup dates, so ask at the market. The farm’s pages do not say that any of this comes with a tree purchase.
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday–Saturday | 9am–5:30pm |
| Sunday | 9am–5pm |

Dogs, paths and practical conditions
No dogs are allowed in the tree field, even on a leash. You cannot save a tree for later, because saved trees have been cut by other customers anyway. Walking to the field is possible, but it is a long walk back with a tree and the farm does not encourage it.
The farm has not published payment methods, restrooms, parking arrangements, accessibility, group visits or a weather-closure phone line. The fields are weather dependent, so ask before you come in snow.
The farm and its address
Weston’s is a seventh-generation family farm in the Saco River Valley, farmed since 1799 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The farm’s website gives its Fryeburg market address as 48 River Street, though one recent print ad prints 60 River Street, so confirm the number before you navigate.
The Conway, New Hampshire roadside market, which belongs to the same family, is closed for the season and is not part of this listing.
