Find your tree

Choose your Christmas tree.

The H. Smith Richardson tree farm offers choose-and-cut Douglas fir, white spruce and blue spruce, plus precut Fraser, Canaan and balsam fir. The tree fields sit within the wider Audubon sanctuary, and part of the proceeds supports conservation and education.

Saws are provided, tree wrapping is available and assistance is offered. Ask whether any requested processing carries a charge. Flat ground does not establish access to every part of the sanctuary or a whole-farm wheelchair guarantee, so ask about the specific help you need. No restrooms are listed.

Greenery, hours and finding the correct entrance

Wreaths, roping, swags, tree stands, decorations and bundled firewood accompany the trees. The usual published season runs the Saturday after Thanksgiving–December 23, with Tuesday–Friday noon–4pm, weekends 10am–4pm and Monday closed. Check current stock, prices, payment and holiday changes before travelling.

Sources disagree between 16 and 17 Sasco Creek Road. Confirm the actual tree-sale entrance with the farm at 203-623-0646 or ct.audubontrees@gmail.com before using directions. The Fairfield center, 203-259-6305, is a separate visitor destination and contact role.

A separate sanctuary walk

The wider preserve has a flat trail through the 36-acre habitat-restoration parcel, with dawn-to-dusk walking and birding. Its meadows, shrublands and conifer habitat support seasonal warblers, sparrows and other birds near Long Island Sound. These trail hours are separate from Christmas-tree sales.

The preserve’s rules prohibit dogs under its current policy, as well as drones, fires, camping, biking, hunting, fishing, trapping, collecting and littering. Follow those restrictions when adding a sanctuary walk to tree shopping.
