Cut on the private ranch
Bring a handsaw or another permitted saw, obey the no-chainsaw rule and ten-inch trunk limit, and check limited tree availability.
Make room for winter travel
The snowy walking outing and dirt-road approach call for suitable clothing, footwear and traction planning.
Add a separate winter activity
Compare pond access, trails, rentals, tubing or MoonBikes without assuming a recreation pass pays for the tree.
Beaver Meadows offers tree cutting on its private ranch, with a simple height-based price: $60 for a tree up to eight feet, or $100 for one taller than eight feet. Do not cut a tree with a trunk more than ten inches in diameter. Availability is limited, so check the ranch's cutting and ticket arrangements before the trip. The Christmas-tree ticket also offers pre-cut trees at $95 up to eight feet and $130 over eight feet, giving visitors a separate choice when they do not want to cut a tree themselves.
Bring your own handsaw or a permitted power saw; chainsaws are not allowed. This is a snowy mountain walk rather than a paved retail lot, so dress for winter alpine conditions and plan the journey home with the tree. The operator recommends snow tires or chains and prefers a four-wheel-drive vehicle, while explicitly saying four-wheel drive is not required.

Arrival and a safe winter outing
Use the ranch’s tree-cutting hours, which end at 3pm, rather than the resort office’s longer hours. The approach includes dirt or gravel road, and the operator advises winter traction equipment for the mountain journey. Ask about current road conditions and leave enough daylight for walking and returning with the tree; towing assistance is not provided by the ranch.
Private-ranch tree cutting has its own ticket and tree prices. Other winter access passes mention tree cutting among the activities, but check what tree charge and access your chosen package actually includes before buying; an activity pass should not be assumed to waive the tree price.
The Christmas-tree ticket has a one-hour session, with the requirement to be in the cutting area by the time that session ends. That condition concerns entry to the cutting area, rather than requiring the tree to be cut and loaded by that moment. Its own cancellation terms give no refunds; rescheduling or future credit depends on the circumstances, and schedule changes must be requested earlier than 48 hours before the booked start. These are the tree-ticket terms, separate from the tubing policy.

More winter experiences at the ranch
The ranch also offers separately priced snowshoe trails, pond skating or hockey, ice fishing and electric MoonBike outings. Equipment can be limited: call ahead for snowshoes, skates or hockey equipment, and bring your own ice-fishing tools because augers and fishing gear are no longer rented.
Pond skating has a complimentary warming fire, with Friday and Saturday evening lighting. Ice fishing is listed daily, 9am–4pm, and the Ranch House offers hot drinks for a small fee. Snow tubing follows its own weather-dependent calendar; a staff safety briefing is required before entry, and minors must have an adult or guardian.
Earlier public ticket listings described a six-hour Platinum pass from $79.50, a three-hour Gold pass, a two-hour access pass and a 3–4pm Happy Hour pass at $25, advertised for ages four and up. The winter activity page also describes a $10 holiday-weekend premium and prices subject to change. Confirm the current session, charges, eligibility and inclusions directly before paying; these earlier pass examples do not establish today’s available tickets or a tree included with recreation.

Plan a tubing session separately
Tubing is a separate snow-dependent outing with runs of different difficulty, a lift and resort-provided single or double tubes. Riders must be able to hold both handles; the published guidance gives an approximate minimum of 36–38 inches. No lap riding is allowed, minors need adult supervision, and staff directs the suitable runs and any tube linking. Smaller children have a separate kiddie hill where families bring their own sled.
Arrive thirty minutes before your booked winter session. The activity-pass instructions use the upper parking area behind the office and condos, followed by a walk to the pavilion for check-in, a waiver and safety briefing. Ask ahead if that approach or the snowy terrain will need assistance. Pets are not allowed on the tubing hill. Helmets are recommended rather than required; rental stock is limited and bicycle helmets are not suitable.
The published activity-pass policy gives no cancellation refunds. Rescheduling is free at least seven days before; from six days before until 3pm on the previous day it costs $5 per person, with no changes after that cutoff. Weather and safety conditions can close activities. Read the conditions attached to your selected ticket, particularly if arranging tree cutting as well as tubing.
| Planning point | Published condition |
|---|---|
| Arrival | Thirty minutes before the booked winter session; pavilion check-in, waiver and briefing |
| Equipment | Tubing pass includes tubes; other winter equipment rentals cost extra |
| Helmet rental | Two hours $10; half day $19; full day $25; availability varies |
| Rescheduling | Free 7+ days before; then $5/person until 3pm day before; no cancellation refund |
A meal or warm drink at the Ranch House
The Ranch House Restaurant & Pub occupies a log cabin and offers a place to make a separate meal stop. Its published menu includes soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, bison meatloaf, birria tacos, pasta and desserts. The children’s menu offers cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, cheese sticks and quesadillas, with fries or seasonal fruit. Tell the server about allergies; the menu identifies a range of possible allergens.
The published restaurant schedule is November 24–December 18: Friday 4–8pm, Saturday 9am–8pm and Sunday 9am–4pm, closed Monday–Thursday. December 19–January 5 is listed daily, 9am–8pm; January 6–March 31 returns to the weekend pattern. No year is stated, and hours can change with demand, so confirm the renewed schedule with the front office before relying on a meal after cutting. Outside-hours to-go service is described for in-house guests, so day visitors should not assume it is available.
| Menu choice | Published menu price |
|---|---|
| Meadow or Teriyaki Angus burger | $17.95 |
| Bison meatloaf / birria tacos | $21.95 / $20.95 |
| Children’s choices | $6.95–$9.95, with fries or seasonal fruit |
| Hot chocolate / coffee / hot tea | $4 / $3.50 / $3 |
If you want to stay overnight
Cabins, condos and lodge rooms are an optional extension to the tree outing. Their minimum stays, full-payment and cancellation rules differ from winter activity tickets. Holiday cabins and condos have a three-night minimum in the published lodging policy; holiday lodge rooms have a two-night minimum. Check the exact accommodation terms and total rather than assuming a tree or recreation package comes with a room.
Lodging requires 100% payment at booking and a separate $25 resort fee. The policy describes a full refund within seven days of booking, a 50% refund plus a $25 cancellation fee using the wording “up 60 days before arrival,” and no refund less than 30 days before arrival. It does not clearly cover the 30–59-day interval or explain how the booking-time and arrival-time rules interact; ask for written confirmation of the cancellation terms for your reservation. The resort fee’s listed recreation benefits do not establish an included Christmas tree or all winter tickets.
Parking is gravel or dirt and some lodging approaches have stairs or inclines. Pets are restricted to the permitted accommodation types, with a $75 cleaning fee and another $25 per night starting on the second night. They must be leashed on the grounds, kept off furniture and not left unattended. These lodging provisions do not override the no-pets rule on the tubing hill.
