Christmas tree farm guide
Christmas tree farms in North Carolina.
Find a Christmas tree among the mountain rows around Boone, Newland, West Jefferson and Waynesville, or plan a farm visit near Apex and Hillsborough. These listings bring together tree choices, posted prices, seasonal dates and the practical details that make the trip easier.
Choose your tree and check the cutting arrangements
Fraser fir is a familiar mountain choice, with several farms offering other species too. At Clawson’s, Panoramic View and Appalachian Christmas Mountain Farms, you select a field tree and the crew cuts it. Jordan Lake pairs field-grown trees with mountain-grown pre-cut trees. Check the available sizes before a long drive.
Compare prices and payment conditions
Mehaffey, Cartner’s and Red Barn publish height tiers. Smith’s prices its field pines by the foot, while Mistletoe Meadows gives an average 6–7ft tree price example. Individually tagged trees can differ in price. Clawson’s and Panoramic View add a $4 card fee; Smith’s offers a cash discount.
Match the day to the farm’s schedule
Some farms open only on selected weekends. Jordan Lake requires a free vehicle reservation on its listed busy days, including visits to pick up a tagged tree. Check the operator’s latest dates and availability before leaving; opening days do not guarantee remaining trees.
Make room for the Christmas extras
Hayrides, warm drinks, wreaths and farm shops vary by location and date. Sugar Plum lists weekend Santa visits and food trucks; Red Barn schedules vendors and hayrides on selected days. Weather and crowds can limit rides and access, so keep the activity conditions with your plans.
