Town of Walworth · Wisconsin
Country Side Trees
Country Side offers both field cutting and individually tagged pre-cut trees, with a warm gift shop and fresh greenery made on the farm. The two buying formats have different prices and opening dates, and tree width or extreme cold can limit shaking and netting.

Field choices include Balsam, Canaan, Concolor and Fraser fir, Colorado blue spruce, and Scotch and white pine. The pre-cut list includes Balsam, Concolor and Fraser, blue spruce and both pines; stock changes daily.
Trees are measured from the cut butt to the tip for field pricing. Pre-cut trees carry individual price tags and do not necessarily use the field-tree price bands.

The farm visit.
Field cutting or a tagged pre-cut
Cut-your-own trees open from November 14; the fresh-cut selection starts November 21. Hand saws are provided, or you can bring a hand saw; gas-powered saws are not permitted. Bring your own tape measure because the farm does not lend measuring sticks.
Field prices use height bands, measured butt to tip. The source’s band labels meet at eight and ten feet, so confirm the correct band when the measured tree is at a boundary. Pre-cut tags range from $15 to $150 and higher according to type, height and growing time. The tree-price section still carries an older heading beneath the current-season navigation, so confirm the applicable price before cutting.
Preparation and getting home
The crew shakes loose needles from trees and wraps them in netting, but very wide trees or extreme cold can prevent either service. The farm cannot tie trees onto cars; twine is provided, and the customer must secure the load.
Wreaths, garland and boughs
Wreaths and garland are handmade from greenery grown on the farm. Traditional wreaths come in several sizes and deluxe versions; candy-cane and cross shapes are separate choices. Garland costs $3 per foot in lengths from five to twenty-five feet, and bough bundles are $10.
Wreaths, garland and boughs can be preordered through the operator’s site. The Christmas page gives a November 11 cutoff, while the linked personal-order form says November 18 and warns that orders may close at any time. Confirm the active deadline before relying on either date. Grave blankets are $60 for a 26-by-50-inch piece.
| Size or style | Price |
|---|---|
| 16-inch small / deluxe small | $25 / $30 |
| 24-inch medium / deluxe medium | $42 / $48 |
| 36-inch large / deluxe large | $56 / $60 |
| 44-inch extra-large / deluxe extra-large | $85 / $90 |
| 54-inch extra-extra-large | $165 |
| Candy cane | $30 |
| Cross with ground stake | $38 |
The warm shop and selling days
The gift shop carries Christmas decorations, ornaments, handmade beeswax and soy candles, pet treats and CST Antlers dog chews. It is a warm place to finish an outdoor tree visit. Dated dog, food and other events have their own calendar; check before planning around one.
Weekend hours are 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. from November 14. Weekdays run November 23–December 23, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with Thanksgiving closed. Christmas Eve has a shorter 10 a.m.–noon opening.
Payment, dogs and cutting tools
Cash and cards are accepted, with a $10 minimum for card or tap payments; checks are not accepted. Handsaws are provided, and you may bring a handsaw, but gas-powered saws are prohibited.
Dogs may accompany you outdoors on a physical leash held by a person. Electronic collars do not qualify, and dogs are not allowed inside the store during November and December. Photography sessions must be scheduled with the farm.
Plan a group visit or photo session
Field trips require a request at least two weeks ahead and have limited availability during November and December. The visit is entirely outdoors and tailored to the group’s ages and interests, usually with a fifteen-to-thirty-minute talk, questions or a demonstration followed by a self-guided walk.
A separate virtual option provides a personalized two-to-three-minute tree-farming video and a follow-up video answering students’ questions. Submit the field-trip form and wait for the farm to arrange a date; neither a time slot nor a group price is established by ordinary tree-shopping hours.
Photography sessions must also be scheduled with the farm through the photographer form. The field-map page currently says “Coming Soon,” so ask for current directions to the appropriate trees rather than depending on an online map of the fields.
Before you go.
- No checks; $10 minimum for card or tap payments.
