Booth’s grows six varieties on the farm in Conway: Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, White Pine, Carolina Sapphire, Eastern Red Cedar and Clemson Greenspire. Every tree sold is individually priced and carries a tag; a tree with no tag is not for sale and is held for future years. The farm sells no field tree under 5 feet so that trees have time to grow, and warns of a slight shortage after weather losses.
Pre-cut Fraser fir comes from a quality grower in the mountains of North Carolina and is kept in a water container and watered twice daily. The farm provides saws; staff shake each tree, net and bale it, tie it down, and will cut a tree and carry it to your vehicle, especially a large one, at no additional cost. Children must not carry saws and must be monitored by a parent or guardian, and power tools are not allowed.

Free weekend hayrides
The farm offers hayrides to and from the tree fields on weekends, free of charge. The ride takes you nonstop to the back farm, drops you off to walk and choose a tree, and brings you and your tree back to the front.
The farm’s wording is that hayrides begin Thanksgiving Day and run weekends only. Thanksgiving is a Thursday, so confirm which days run.
Photography sessions
Professional photographers are allowed to book the farm for sessions at $30 per hour. Booking opens July 1; call Lauren at 843-421-8116. Payment is by PayPal or Venmo at booking, and the waiver and farm rules must be signed first. The farm also mentions sunflower and wildflower field sessions in bloom seasons.
Sessions run until the farm opens for sales, and no photography is allowed after that. The farm’s pages still give November 15 as the last session day, which does not match the opening dates it has posted, so ask for this season’s last session day when you book.
On the farm: facilities, rules and tree care
There are picnic tables for a family lunch or snack and a port-a-potty with a handwashing station. Bridges and walkways cross the ditches, signs are posted, and the farm asks you to watch for stumps, vines and insects.
Leashed pets are allowed; owners must clean up, and the farm may ask you to return an aggressive pet to the vehicle. Do not let pets urinate on the trees. ATVs are not allowed.
To keep a tree fresh, get it into water; if it was cut more than two hours earlier, recut a quarter to a half inch off the bottom, and check the water at least twice a day. The farm accepts cash, check and credit or debit cards.
The Booth family, directions and contacts
Larue Booth started the farm in 1962. His son Haley now runs it with Haley’s daughter, Lauren, on a 50-acre farm.
Booth’s Christmas Tree Farm is at 5268 Adrian Highway, Conway, South Carolina 29526, in Horry County; some directories list the same street address under Aynor, SC 29511. From Conway, take US 701 North toward Loris for roughly 8 miles and turn right at the traffic light just past SC 22 (a convenience store on the right, the Academy for Technology on the left); the farm is roughly 2½ miles on the right. It is about 30 miles from Myrtle Beach and about 50 miles from Florence. The farm says your GPS may select a different route, and that traffic and traffic lights are significantly less on the bypass roads described on its directions page.
