Choose your Christmas tree.

The field varieties include spruce, fir and Scotch pine. Compare Colorado Blue, White, Norway and Serbian spruce with Concolor, Nordmann and Korean fir; the farm’s Fraser fir plantings are limited. The variety list describes the farm’s plantings and does not guarantee every species for a particular visit.

The pre-cut offering includes Balsam fir and a Fraser/Balsam hybrid. These give another way to bring home a tree without cutting in the field.

Choosing, cutting and taking the tree home

Borrow a saw and choose your tree with plenty of daylight left. The farm has no artificial field lighting, so make room for the search before the 3pm closing time. Wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes for the visit.

The team provides string, nets the tree and ties it to the car. Bring cash or a local check and proper ID; cards, Venmo and other electronic payments are not accepted. An ATM on Broadway in Greenlawn is a few blocks away.

Handmade wreaths, holly and honey

Handmade Fraser fir wreaths are posted at $40 in the 2026 announcement. Pinecones and fresh holly boughs offer more ways to decorate at home, and honey from the farm’s own hives makes a small gift to take with you.

Family photos and practical stops

Bring your camera for family memories, but leave tripods, external lighting and props at home. Commercial photographs and photo shoots are not permitted on the farm.

There are no public bathrooms on the farm. Plan that stop before arriving, especially when visiting with children. Greenlawn’s restaurants and shops can make an easy stop before or after the tree outing.

Bringing your Tilden tree indoors

Keep the netting on while carrying the tree through doorways and placing it in the stand. If the tree waits outside before decorating, put it in a bucket of water and make a fresh trunk cut before bringing it indoors.

Choose a cool spot away from heat and check the stand’s water several times a day during the first few days. Keep the cut end covered by water; plain water is enough.
