The farm visit.
Finding and bringing back your tree
Bring your own hand saw if you have one, or rent or buy a saw at the farm. Power saws are prohibited. After cutting, complimentary tractors can bring your tree and your group back from the fields, and the crew bales the tree for the journey home.
Wear warm layers, sturdy boots and gloves. The fields can be uneven, and the farm asks visitors to check weather announcements before setting out. Cash is preferred; credit cards are accepted with a small service fee.
Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides
Santa’s posted visiting hours are 11am–2pm on weekends and on the Friday after Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Families can take photographs and spend a little time with him among the trees.
Horse-drawn wagon rides through the fields are offered on weekends. Keep these holiday outings separate from the complimentary tractor transport that helps guests and trees return from the cutting fields.
A tailgate picnic or a warm drink
Designated tailgate areas welcome family picnics and celebrations; bring a blanket or chairs if you would like to linger. Use the marked spaces and clean up afterward. Friendly dogs are welcome on a leash.
The Snack Barn offers hot chocolate and light refreshments when you are ready for a warm break. The visitor map shows its location, along with parking, the Pay Station, baling areas and the wagon-ride stop.
The Holiday Shop
Browse wreaths, garland, ornaments and decorated tabletop trees in the Holiday Shop. The farm makes its greenery from evergreens grown on the property, with custom arrangements finished with ribbon, berries, pinecones and other decorations.
Keeping your Battenfeld tree fresh
Make a fresh cut across the trunk’s base before placing it in water. Choose a stand with plenty of water capacity and refill it daily. Set the tree away from heaters, fireplaces and direct sunlight so it can stay fresh through the holidays.
After Christmas, recycle or compost the tree responsibly.
