Choose your Christmas tree.

Terhune’s Christmas-tree shopping starts the Friday after Thanksgiving at the main farm on Cold Soil Road. Choose a fresh-cut tree from the seasonal display, then browse the wreaths and farm store. This is a retail tree stop, with the orchard’s market, bakery and farmyard close at hand.

The tree range has included 5–8ft Douglas and Fraser firs, with earlier Douglas selections extending from tabletop to extra-large. Ask which species and heights are available now before traveling for a particular size; the farm does not publish a current tree-price list.

Fresh wreath choices include boxwood, Douglas fir and mixed greens, with decorated Williamsburg-style designs as well. Holiday displays have also included door swags and evergreen roping, so the same stop can cover the tree, front door and other greenery. Check current stock for a particular style.

Bakery, farm market and holiday gifts

The farm store offers apples, produce, cider and local specialty foods alongside the tree shopping. The bakery makes cider doughnuts, pies and apple crisps, cookies, cakes, and fruit and tea breads. Holiday baking has included more than fifteen pie choices, decorated sugar and gingerbread cookies, assembled gingerbread houses and kits to decorate at home. Order pies and other holiday baking ahead to reserve the choices you want; check availability and collection deadlines with the farm.

Gift boxes and custom baskets can combine apples, baked goods, preserves, cheese, specialty foods and wine. Ordinary gift boxes can be shipped within the United States, and local delivery serves Princeton and Lawrenceville. Wine-containing gifts have the narrower choice of farm-store pickup or shipping to New Jersey and Florida; confirm the current destination and order terms. The farm also offers porchside pickup, gift cards and custom corporate gifts.

A walk around the farm

The barnyard and farm trail offer another reason to leave time around your tree-shopping stop. Sheep, goats, donkeys, ducks, geese and chickens live in the barnyard year round. The roughly one-mile Farm Trail starts at the hay barn beside the pasture, passing the orchard, pond, meadow and woods; it is available whenever the farm store is open. The pedal-tractor track is for children six and under.

Holiday celebrations have included a Winter Wonderland display, a warming bonfire, hot chocolate, s’mores kits and cookie-decorating kits. Santa visits have offered free photos with your own camera and Santa’s sleigh. Check the farm’s current calendar for Santa sessions and seasonal activity availability before making them the reason for your visit. Book any workshop separately from tree shopping.

Farm Animals art exhibition

The Farm Animals art exhibition is displayed in the historic barn from September 5 through December 6, overlapping tree-shopping visits from November 27 through December 6. It offers a separate gallery stop around the farm visit. Ask Terhune about gallery access, hours and any admission charge before planning to include it.

Holiday workshops

Hands-on holiday programs have offered several different ways to make something to take home. The wreath class teaches a fresh Williamsburg-style design; children’s sessions combine a holiday book, an ornament or cookie activity, and hot chocolate. A separate family arrangement class has paired one adult with one participating child. The winery arrangement evening includes a wine tasting flight and its own materials.

The prices below are previous listed program prices, useful for planning rather than a confirmed offer for the next session. Check the current calendar and registration page for the date, availability and final price before booking. The linked wreath, children’s and wine-arrangement pages require advance registration, say sales are final with no refunds or date/time changes, and prohibit pets. Additional wine and light fare at the winery evening cost extra.

Winter winery visits

The winery offers tasting flights, wine by the glass and light food such as cheese plates and chips with salsa. Weekend music is listed for 1–4pm, with space in the historic wine orchard and a heated wine barn when the weather turns cold. Winter visits have included mulled wine, outdoor heaters, fire pits and cocoa or s’mores kits; fire pits depend on conditions. A separate seasonal wine-and-cookie pairing has also been offered, with current availability and price to check.

An earlier Holiday Wine Trail notice listed November 27–29, noon–5pm, with wine tasting and conditions-permitting fire pits. Treat that as an earlier offering and ask whether a current event is scheduled before travelling specifically for it. General winery opening differs among the farm’s pages, so check the winery’s hours separately from the store. Festival-entry tickets apply during the relevant festivals; do not assume a fall ticket is required for ordinary Christmas shopping.

Families are welcome in the winery, with children supervised and staying with their group. Tables are first come, first served, have a two-hour limit and cannot be moved. No outside food or pets are permitted, bottles may not be opened on site, and IDs are checked for alcohol purchases and drinking. Arrange a group of eight or more directly with the farm before traveling, because the published group and reservation limits differ. Private and corporate gatherings can also be arranged by appointment, including in the climate-controlled wine barn.

Planning your tree-shopping stop

Use the main farm at 330 Cold Soil Road, separate from the Van Kirk Road apple orchard. The visitor-information page lists the farm store Monday–Friday 9am–6pm and weekends 9am–5pm, with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve 9am–2pm and Christmas Day and New Year’s Day closed. Other operator sections give later Friday and weekend closing times; confirm those days, holiday exceptions and the Christmas-tree yard’s opening before a special trip.

Pets, picnics and smoking are not permitted on the farm. Use the hand-washing sinks before entering the farm store, wine orchard or picking area. Food shopping, gifts, winery purchases and booked activities are separate choices; no tree-handling service or all-inclusive admission price is promised here.
