Choose your Christmas tree.
Shale Hills is a choose-and-cut farm on Pond School Road, with trees shaped by hand. Norway spruce, concolor fir and Canaan fir are listed among its choices. The live price guide posts one $140 price including sales tax for any size or type; check current stock if you need a particularly large tree.
You may bring a bow saw or borrow one, but power saws are not allowed. The farm wraps small and medium trees; large, dense trees cannot be wrapped. Free twine is supplied, but visitors must tie the tree to their own vehicle. A pickup truck is recommended for a very large tree, and a blanket can protect a car roof while securing it.
Compare wide and narrow shapes, and full or more open branch spacing, to suit your room and ornaments. Staff is limited, so bring enough people to move and load your selected tree, especially a large or heavy one.
