Choose your Christmas tree.
Holly Ridge is a you-choose, staff-cut farm. Take a map on arrival to find the different varieties across more than eight acres. Only trees carrying a price and location tag are for sale; untagged trees are being held to grow for a later season.
Choose a tagged tree, tear off the lower stub and bring it to the office. Pay and receive a receipt, then arrange cutting that day or pickup later. Staff cut and net the tree shortly before the scheduled collection. Prices depend on variety, size and appearance. Customers may not cut their own trees, and credit cards are not accepted.
Tree species
- Blue spruce
- Canaan fir
- Douglas fir
- Norway spruce
- White pine
The farm visit.
Comparing the five tree choices
Blue spruce has sturdy branches suited to heavier ornaments, while Norway spruce offers a more open, layered outline. Canaan fir combines a pleasant scent with layered branches, and Douglas fir has soft, scented needles. White pine has a full, soft long-needled look, but heavy ornaments can bend its flexible branches. Choose the individual tagged tree that suits the decorations you intend to hang.
The farm’s own guide rates Norway spruce’s needle retention as fair, Canaan and Douglas fir as very good, and white pine as excellent. Consider those comparisons alongside branch strength and the individual tree’s form, then keep the cut base watered during display.
Fresh greenery and the selling week
Handmade wreaths and grave blankets are made on the premises with fresh greens from the fields. The farm announces an opening on Friday November 27, followed by Thursday–Sunday selling, 9am–4:30pm; Monday–Wednesday are closed. Confirm remaining tree selection and any holiday exceptions before travelling.
