Choose your Christmas tree.

Black Oak’s choose-and-cut selection lists blue and Norway spruce, concolor fir and Nordmann fir, with larger trees over 10 feet among the published options. Saws are supplied. The operator’s previously published standard field-tree price is $90; confirm current stock and prices before travelling.

The farm spans five fields, with an upper-field special posted at $70 for a limited selection. That offer needs a coupon collected near the Bumble, an employee to witness the cutting, and a weekend visit or prior call. Discounts cannot be combined. Confirm the offer is still valid before choosing an upper-field tree.

Tree choices and payment

Weekend visits are preferred. Weekdays need a direct appointment and cash payment, and visitors must bring their own loading help. On weekends, cards and Apple Pay are accepted, with a $10 card minimum. All purchases are paid for in the shop; electronic tips and cash back are not available.

The Christmas shop

Warm up with free coffee or hot chocolate, and browse handmade beeswax candles, local Hunterdon honey and Christmas decorations. Cookies and muffins are usually for sale; hot dogs are generally available after 11am while supplies last. Honey and other handmade inventory can be limited.

Two gates and leashed pets

Both entrances are on Mine Road. Use the lower gate when it is open during busy periods; the upper drive may act as the exit. If the lower gate is closed, continue uphill to the signed main drive and park as directed.

Dogs must remain leashed, with cleanup required. Disposal buckets are provided along the main paths. Keep clear of field fencing and follow the farm’s posted guidance.

Arrange access ahead of time

The terrain is rough and can have holes. Most of the farm is unsuitable for wheelchairs, although some surfaces are hard and flat. The bathroom is on a flat surface but cannot fit a wheelchair.

Individual arrangements are handled with Middle Bob at 908-832-2392, preferably days ahead. Limited-mobility transport in the farm’s Mule is by appointment and off-peak, and riders must tolerate bumps. Weekday help is limited; the first two December weekends are generally unavailable for special arrangements. Confirm current availability rather than relying on a same-day request.

Professional photo sessions

Professional photographers need prior permission and advance discussion with Middle Bob, without disrupting tree customers. The posted arrangement is $200 paid in advance when no tree is being purchased on the shoot day; a tree used for a shoot must be prepaid. Weekend wording varies, so agree the exact session before arriving. These are professional-session terms, separate from ordinary tree shopping.

Before you go.

  • Current-season opening and offer validity require confirmation; the operator’s detailed pages still describe an earlier season.
