Find your tree
Choose your Christmas tree.
The farm describes its offering as fresh pre-cut or choose-and-cut trees, pine garlands and wreaths, and it sells trees in two ways. Choose-and-cut trees from 6 to 14 feet are available “on a limited basis,” so the field is a smaller selection than a large cut-your-own farm. Alongside it, the farm sells a selection of fresh pre-cut trees; the Maryland Christmas Tree Association lists those as cut from the farm daily, with larger trees of 10 feet and up available.
Live balled-and-burlapped trees are also listed, which suits a family planning to plant the tree after the holiday. The farm does not name tree varieties on its website, so ask which species are in the field and on the pre-cut display when you arrive.
Tree prices are not posted on the farm’s website or in the listings that describe it. So confirm the price with the staff before you cut. The farm’s contact page invites anyone interested in a choose-and-cut tree to get in touch or stop by its retail location.

The barn Christmas Shop and fresh wreaths
The Christmas Shop opens for the holiday season the day after Thanksgiving and stays open daily from 10am to 5:30pm until the tree farm closes for the season. Woodlake describes it as more than decor: one-of-a-kind pieces, tablescapes, greenery and furnishings, with the option to customize hosting and decor needs. The farm’s own invitation is practical: if the shop does not have what you are looking for, ask.
Fresh pine wreaths and garlands are part of the seasonal offering, and the farm takes pre-orders for them by phone. That is useful if you want a wreath or a length of garland for a particular date rather than hoping to find the size you want in the barn. Wreath and garland prices are not posted.
The shop also opens on a limited basis earlier in the season. Woodlake normally holds an Autumn Glory Spectacular for three days during Garrett County’s Autumn Glory Festival, and its website says the barn store opens from September through the Christmas season. In autumn the farm has welcomed families who want a head start on Christmas to pre-tag their tree, even when the barn is closed for the festival weekend; no pre-tagging terms are posted, so ask whether it is still available. These autumn openings are separate from the tree-selling schedule above.
Planning a Deep Creek Lake day around the farm
Woodlake sits on Broadford Road in Oakland, a short drive from Deep Creek Lake and Wisp Resort, so a tree stop fits easily into a Garrett County winter weekend. Check the farm’s Facebook page before a long drive in bad weather or very late in the season.
The farm does not post information about parking, restrooms, pets, terrain, group visits or what happens in poor weather. A short phone call to the number below will answer these before you set out with children, pets or a large vehicle.
Beyond the Christmas season
Woodlake began in the mid-1990s as a tree farm started by Robert DeYoung. Taylor Sines managed it and later bought it, and it has since grown to include a retail store, a metal fabrication shop and a landscaping service.
Outside the holidays the farm offers landscaping, including privacy trees, tree removal, transplanting, mulch and maintenance, quoted by contacting the farm. It also sells quality dug trees to wholesale and retail customers; wholesale terms are not posted, so they are arranged by contacting the farm. These are separate from a Christmas tree visit.
