Choose your Christmas tree.

Butler’s Orchard offered two ways to buy a tree at its last published Christmas season. Cut-your-own was by reservation only, with trees in the field, and pre-cut trees were sold in the Farm Park during Holiday Harvest Days. Cut-your-own was by reservation only, per car, with no walk-ins; pre-cut trees were sold in the Farm Park without a cut-your-own reservation.

The last published cut-your-own selection was Douglas fir, about 4 to 7 feet, and limited Canaan fir, mostly 6 feet, at one price per tree. If you did not find a tree you liked, the farm welcomed visitors to look through the pre-cut selection in the Farm Park. The farm sold out of trees before Christmas, and it says it will open a brand new field of Douglas firs. Last season a reservation was required, and the trees were limited.

The farm has not yet posted the coming season’s cut-your-own dates, price, species or reservation rules. Its reservation page still shows the previous season’s event, so check the farm’s Christmas Trees page before you plan around any date.

Reservations and what the farm says about the coming season

Reservations were made through the farm’s ticketing page for a cut-your-own visit, per car. The farm recommends reservations for picking and for any festival or event; walk-ins are accepted only if tickets are available. There is no need to reserve to visit only the Farm Park when no festival or event is on.

The farm’s Farm Park page says the park is closed through November 20 and that, from November 21 to December 20, admission is through Christmas at the Farm or Cut Your Own Christmas Tree tickets. A home-page banner says the Farm Park stays closed until the Holiday Open House on November 21. The farm has not yet posted the Christmas at the Farm hours, price or activities.

Holiday Harvest Days at the Farm Park

At the last published Christmas season the Farm Park ran as Holiday Harvest Days, open Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 5pm. Visitors could see the farm animals, play on the slides and playground, and buy pre-cut trees. The farm describes it as Farm Park fun with a festive twist, open to Christmas tree customers and to anyone who simply wants to visit.

Santa visited on three Sundays in the weeks before Christmas, from 11am to 3pm. A Holiday Open House weekend opened with hayrides from 11am to 4pm, campfires, more Farm Park fun and the Farmer’s Porch open from 10:30am to 4pm. These are the last published patterns, and the farm has not posted this season’s Santa or Open House details beyond the Open House opening on November 21.

Fresh wreaths start at $23.50 and grapevine wreaths start at $8.99, with swags, window dressings, table dressings and mantle dressings also available. Choose a pre-designed wreath or design your own with the staff’s help; complex designs such as Williamsburg or Della Robbia styles may need a later pickup date.

The Farm Market sells produce and groceries, including locally sourced pork, milk, cheese, frozen pies and ice cream, bakery items, decor and giftware, and a Kids Corner. The Farm Market is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9am to 6pm, with last entry to the farm and fields at 5pm, and is closed on Mondays; the Farm Park follows the separate Christmas arrangement above.

Photography sessions at the farm require a reservation and payment ahead of time: two-hour windows start at $100 for a single client or $150 for multi-client sessions, and the farm’s locations list includes the Christmas trees in late fall and winter. Whether sessions run during the tree season, and any blackout dates, are not stated; email or call the office before booking.

The farm’s party, bonfire, hayride, venue-rental and field-trip offerings run in spring, summer and fall and list no December dates; they are separate from a tree visit.

Pets, restrooms and getting there

Only service animals are permitted; comfort and emotional support animals and other pets are not. A flushable toilet is at the Farm Market, and portable restrooms are in the Farm Park and the fields, and accessible portable restrooms are at the Farm Market and in the Farm Park. Dress warm and wear flat, comfortable closed-toe shoes; it can be windy.
