Choose your Christmas tree.

Field-grown pine and spruce trees are offered alongside pre-cut Michigan-grown firs. Field sizes vary; the pre-cut lot includes trees from 6ft to more than 13ft. Each pre-cut tree is tagged with its height and price.

Bow saws are available with a $10 refundable deposit, refunded when the saw is returned or applied toward your tree purchase. Bring a hand saw or battery-powered reciprocating saw if you prefer; chainsaws are prohibited.

The farm visit.

Cutting, carrying and loading

Staff can help bring your tree back from the fields, shake it and load it on your car. Shaking and baling are complimentary with your tree purchase. The last vehicle may enter the U-cut fields at 5pm.

A stop at the Emporium

Every tree purchase includes a fresh donut and a small hot chocolate. The Nagel Farmstead Emporium sells ornaments, Christmas gifts, wreaths, garland, fudge, bakery treats and local products. The store also carries pantry foods, toys, clothing and monk-made soaps, and the bakery offers gluten-free choices; ask about allergens.

On weekends, the Emporium Café serves hot food, seasonal drinks, local beer, wine and craft cocktails.

Reservations and winter weather

Reserve one free ticket per car. During designated reservation periods, arrive within your selected 30-minute window; late arrivals depend on available capacity. Entry without a reservation may be refused when the farm is full.

Tree visits take place in rain, snow or sunshine, with possible delays or suspension in severe weather. Wear warm layers and boots for uneven, muddy or icy fields, and supervise children. The farm estimates 60–90 minutes for U-cut visits and 30–60 minutes for pre-cut shopping.

Dogs and photographs

Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome during Christmas tree season; keep them under control and clean up after them. Service animals are welcome. Personal photographs are encouraged; professional sessions require advance approval and a valid permit.

Parking, facilities and group plans

Free onsite parking includes overflow areas on busy days and ADA spaces near the Emporium. Accessible restroom stalls are provided. Field surfaces include gravel, grass and uneven terrain; the main entrance and Emporium offer the easiest access. Ask about the arrangements that suit your visit.

Group outings need a quote and contact at least two to three weeks ahead. Most group programming is in the fall; Christmas arrangements need to be confirmed separately. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Before you go.

  • Credit and debit cards are accepted. Cash is handled at limited registers and may mean a longer wait; cash is preferred for the saw deposit.
  • Measure your room before choosing a tree. Sizes and varieties change through the season.
