Fraser, Noble, Nordmann, Balsam and Colorado White fir provide different branch spacing, fragrance and color. The general published range is 2–20ft, subject to stock.
A natural Charlie Brown
These unsheared Balsam firs have a more open shape, at published sizes from 2ft to over 10ft. They are usually displayed after opening weekend.
Take it or arrange delivery
The crew supplies twine and tie-on help for your own vehicle. Separate Longmont delivery starts at $25, with the final size and destination confirmed by staff.
Blue Ribbon sources fresh-cut trees from family farms, with a published range from two to twenty feet. Its Christmas list includes Balsam, Fraser, Noble, Nordmann and Colorado White fir, plus open, characterful Charlie Brown trees. Trees are continually opened and placed on display, so you can compare more than a tightly bundled outline.
Branch spacing and fragrance help distinguish the firs. Colorado White, also called Concolor, has an airy outline, strong branches, longer blue-green needles and a citrus scent. Balsam has short green needles, strong branches and a familiar Christmas-tree fragrance. Fraser offers sturdy branches and short blue-green needles with silvery undersides.
Noble's strong branches lie flat, with a full layer of needles on their upper side and a fragrant, dark-green to blue-green appearance. Nordmann has glossy dark-green needles with silvery undersides and much less fragrance; its branches lie flat or slightly downward. Compare the actual trees for the outline and ornament spacing you prefer, since all varieties are subject to availability.
The Charlie Brown option is an untrimmed Balsam fir, leaving more space between branches and less weight than a dense, regularly shaped tree. Blue Ribbon publishes sizes from two feet to over ten feet and describes these as its most economical trees, so ask the crew for the price of your chosen tree. They are usually displayed after opening weekend, so check availability if this natural shape is your first choice.
The outdoor lot is at the southwest corner of Hover Street and Rogers Road. All greenhouses are closed to the public during the Christmas season. Choose from the trees at the lot, then use the separate request form if you need to arrange delivery.

From choosing to tying it on
Tell a crew member when you have chosen a tree. The team can make a fresh cut and secure it to your car, with its own twine, so bringing rope is optional. At busy times, keep someone beside your chosen tree until the crew can help.
Blue Ribbon recommends getting the fresh-cut base into water within an hour. If you are buying early and will decorate later, store the tree in shade under a breathable sheet or blanket, open any tied branches and make a new base cut before putting it up.
| Offering | What to know |
|---|---|
| Collection | Fresh base cut and tie-on help; twine provided |
| Delivery | Longmont from $25, depending on tree size and destination; arranged with staff |
| Waiting to decorate | Shade, breathable cover and another fresh cut before setup |
Delivery coordinated with the farm
Use the delivery request form to describe the tree height and variety, preferred date, town and address. The team contacts you to help choose a tree and coordinate delivery; the request itself does not confirm a date or reserve stock. If you choose a tree at the lot first, ask for Charlie to arrange its delivery.
Delivery in Longmont starts at $25, with the final cost depending on your destination and tree size. A fresh cut can be included if desired. Stands are available at a separate price based on size. For other towns, describe the destination and wait for the farm’s arrangement rather than assuming the Longmont starting charge applies.
Wreath styles and garland lengths
Blue Ribbon’s Balsam wreaths are handmade in Nova Scotia and come plain or decorated. Hand-tied bows, pinecones, ornaments or berries give the decorated choices their finish. Measure the outside space you want to fill as well as the wreath itself; the larger options differ in whether greenery covers one or both sides.
Douglas fir garland is handmade in Colorado from Colorado-grown Douglas fir and sold by the foot, with lengths up to 75ft available subject to supply. Bough bundles, large pinecones, ornaments and tree stands round out the holiday shopping; the farm does not sell poinsettias.
| Approximate diameter | Undecorated | Decorated |
|---|---|---|
| 20in or 26in | Double-sided | Double-sided greenery; decoration on one side |
| 36in | Single-sided | Single-sided decorated option |
| 48in, 60in or 72in | Single-sided | Larger options with bows |
A gift for either growing season
Gift certificates can be made in any amount and used for the Christmas or spring season. Arrange a handwritten certificate for collection at the farm, or coordinate a print-at-home version for a recipient further away. The separate request form is useful when the farm is out of season or you cannot collect in person.
Certificates do not expire, but the recipient must bring the certificate for redemption. They cannot be redeemed for cash or exchanged for other gift certificates. Orders may be cancelled before acceptance at the farm or loading for delivery, with refunds at management’s discretion; confirm the arrangement directly.
Arrange removal after Christmas
The farm’s removal service starts at $50 in Longmont, with an additional charge possible for very large trees. Use the separate disposal request form to give your tree’s approximate size, town, address and preferred date; staff then contacts you to coordinate.
Remove every light and decoration before collection. Trees with glitter, tinsel or flocking are not accepted under the form’s conditions. Blue Ribbon Farm is not a public recycling drop-off location. If you use a community programme instead, check its current dates and resident rules, and keep removal bags out of the tree-recycling load.
For a separate local option, Longmont lists satellite Christmas-tree drop-off from December 26 through January 4. Remove decorations and lights before taking a tree, and check the city’s current locations and resident requirements. These city drop-offs are separate from Blue Ribbon’s paid collection service and are not at the farm.
| Service | Starting charge | Preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Longmont tree removal | $50; very large trees may cost extra | No lights, decorations, glitter, tinsel or flocking; staff coordinates date |
