Find your tree
Choose your Christmas tree.
The Norman Road farm is Geer’s field-cutting destination, with supplied handsaws and baling after selection. Its published harvest choices include Douglas, Fraser, concolor and Canaan fir, blue spruce and white pine; the direct operator also names white spruce among the trees grown. Choose from the actual sizes and varieties ready in the fields.
Geer also advertises precut trees, but its association profile directs those shoppers to a separate Route 138 location. Do not assume the Norman Road field has that same precut inventory; ask the operator for the current retail address and arrangements if you want a ready-cut tree.
Published varieties
- Douglas fir
- Fraser fir
- Concolor fir

Which variety suits your decorations?
General tree guidance; the farm’s selection, sizes and services are described above.
- Fraser fir
- Upward branches and good needle retention; firmer branches can suit heavier ornaments.
- Concolor fir
- Longer, silver-blue needles with a citrus scent when crushed.
- Canaan fir
- Dark green needles with white undersides and firmer branches for decorations.
- Douglas fir
- Soft needles and more flexible branches, suited to lighter ornaments.
- White pine
- Long, soft needles and flexible branches; choose lighter decorations.
- Blue spruce
- Blue to silver-blue foliage with sharp needle tips.

A weekend in the fields
Wagon rides are advertised on weekends only. Connecticut tourism also describes weekend vendors and food trucks; their menus, attendance and charges vary. No ride price or tree-purchase inclusion is established, so confirm those arrangements if a ride is central to your outing.
Handmade Christmas wreaths and decorations are also sold. The separate Fresh Cut Tree Outlet promises baling at no additional charge, but that offer does not establish a free-processing policy for every Norman Road field tree.
Use the field-farm address
The published opening pattern begins the day after Thanksgiving, 8am–4pm. Restrooms are available. Confirm selling days and the services you need before leaving; wrapping is offered, but its charge and loading or tie-on arrangements are not specified.
Geer’s wedding venue and sand-and-gravel services are separate businesses or bookings. They are not activities included in an ordinary Christmas-tree visit.
The operator’s contact page distinguishes the Norman Road tree farm from its sand-and-gravel office at 852 Voluntown Road. Use the tree-farm entrance for this outing.

Keep the tree fresh at home
Geer recommends a fresh quarter-inch cut from the base if more than four hours have passed since cutting, then a cool display position away from drying heat and drafts. Check the stand’s water daily and keep it above the cut base; a thirsty tree can use up to a gallon a day. The farm advises plain water without additives.
