Choose a cut tree or a living evergreen

The Westminster store is one of O’Toole’s two current garden centers. Its Wadsworth Parkway address is in Westminster; the operator uses Broomfield in the postal address.

Compare the ready-cut Christmas selection with the smaller living evergreens before choosing. A living tree needs its own care and planting plan; it is not simply a cut tree with a different stand.

Greenery, blooming plants and gifts

The earlier holiday assortment includes wreaths, swags, centerpieces and garland sold by the foot. Match a smaller greenery piece to a doorway or table, or measure a longer run before shopping for garland.

Poinsettias, Christmas cactus, amaryllis and paperwhite bulbs add a different kind of holiday color. The gift selection is aimed at gardeners, children and people who enjoy nature, with gift cards available when you would like the recipient to choose.

Prepare the tree for home

The operator’s care guide recommends a fresh base cut of about 1½ inches, keeping the cut clean, and putting the trunk in water. If you are waiting a few days before displaying the tree, keep it in a cool place such as a shed or garage with the trunk in a bucket of water.

Check the water daily, particularly during the first day when a tree can drink heavily, and keep the trunk base submerged. The guide suggests a stand holding about a quart of water for each inch of trunk diameter. Place the tree away from fireplaces, heaters, vents and direct sun, and use low-heat lights. Tree preservative is optional; the stand, funnel and any preservative are separate shopping choices.

Check holiday dates and living-plant terms

The general store hours are 9am–5pm daily, with seasonal closures to confirm. The branch page’s undated December 24–January 10 break and the About page’s Christmas Day–New Year’s Day closure period differ. Check directly before a late-December or early-January visit.

For a living evergreen, ask how the nursery’s plant guarantee applies to the tree and your planting plan. Its general nursery guarantee provides store credit for eligible trees and shrubs with the receipt and dead plant; it does not explicitly establish coverage for cut Christmas trees.

The general price-match offer also has conditions: identical, regularly priced perennials, trees or shrubs from another Colorado garden centre, with a photo, printed ad or screenshot. Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart and Costco are excluded. Confirm Christmas-tree eligibility before counting on a match.
