Windswept offers an unusually broad fir planting: balsam, Fraser–balsam, Turkish, Greek, Blue Korean, Nordmann, Grand and balsam–Veitch. The trees ready for harvest are tagged with their species and individual price, so compare those tags and the actual tree rather than applying a uniform per-foot rate.
For a field choice, head up the hill to look through the ready trees. The farm describes a long outlook across the surrounding mountains and four states from the hilltop; the climb is part of that selection route, rather than a promise of level access.
Pre-cut trees are prepared daily before opening for people who are short on time or prefer not to climb the hill. They are a practical alternative to field selection, but that preparation schedule does not mean the sales area is open before the posted 10am start.

Cutting, hauling and the hilltop choice
Check in around the Christmas Barn and Elves Nook before heading into the fields. Harvestable trees carry both a species name and price, which helps when comparing firs that may look similar at first glance.
After you choose, staff help cut the tree and bring it off the hill. Shaking and baling take place by the parking and gift-shop area. The operator does not attach a separate handling price or an included/free promise to these services, so establish the full charge for the tagged tree and any handling before committing.
Discuss the specific assistance you need with the farm when choosing between the hillside and sales-area options.
Wreath decorating at the Elves Nook
The Christmas Barn’s Elves Nook has a woodstove, holiday items and tree accessories. Fresh wreaths are available, with ribbons and decorations offered so customers can decorate their own. Custom bow-making adds another way to finish the greenery.
Ask about the price of the wreath and materials you choose, and whether staff can make a bow to finish it.
A warm drink and a snack-wagon stop
Coffee, hot chocolate and mulled cider are complimentary. Small snacks are sold from the big red apple snack wagon.
The farm’s tree-growing tradition is carried on by the Taylor and Packard families, with Trees for Troops among its wider connections. The hill, fir varieties and Christmas Barn give the outing its own character.
