Make the Saturday visit a farm outing

The fuller farm description ties complimentary wagon rides, hot chocolate and hot apple cider to Saturday choose-and-cut visits. A Saturday therefore has a different outing rhythm from a weekday appointment; do not expect the same refreshments and ride arrangements simply because a weekday visit has been booked.

Contact Dave for weekday tree appointments; the family farm also operates as a sugarhouse.

Add an ornament to the community tree

Visitors are invited to bring an ornament marked with their name and the year for the community-decorated tree. The designated tree changes from season to season, and the family keeps the ornaments for future displays.

This is a shared Christmas tradition, rather than a way to tag or reserve any tree in the field. Ask which tree is the current community tree before adding your ornament.

Trees and a maple-sugaring family

Christmas-tree sales became another part of a farm with a much longer family maple tradition. Fourth-generation sugaring and a wood-fired evaporator connect the tree visit with the work that happens in the sugarhouse at another time of year. Maple products and gift containers are useful things to ask about when shopping.

School maple tours belong to the sugaring season. They should be arranged as that separate outing, rather than assumed to run during December tree-selling hours.

Tree pickup after the holidays

The farm links a separate Troop 407 donation-funded tree-pickup resource serving Milford, Amherst, Wilton and Merrimack. Pickup dates are set by the Scouts; the currently reviewed dates were for a past January, so a forthcoming collection needs its own updated notice and arrangement.

The published collection rules require a clean natural tree at the curb by 8am on the arranged day. Remove ornaments, lights, tinsel, wire and nails. Flocked trees, artificial trees and wired wreaths are not accepted. This is a separate Scout fundraiser, rather than free farm-run disposal.
