Find your tree

Choose your Christmas tree.

The flat tree price covers any available variety, shape or height in the harvest selection. Balsam, Fraser and concolor are prominent in the farm’s description, while the FAQ also names Scotch pine, white pine and balsam hybrids. These are the farm’s published growing choices, rather than a guarantee that every kind is ready on every selling day.

Saws and field maps are supplied. The farm offers netting and complimentary drilling for a pin stand; a netting fee or blanket included-service statement is not published. Choose the actual tree before relying on the flat price, and use the supplied map to orient yourself around the family farm.

Published varieties

  • Balsam fir
  • Fraser fir
  • Concolor fir
  • Scotch pine

Which variety suits your decorations?

General tree guidance; the farm’s selection, sizes and services are described above.

Fraser fir
Upward branches and good needle retention; firmer branches can suit heavier ornaments.
Balsam fir
A notably fragrant choice with soft needles.
Concolor fir
Longer, silver-blue needles with a citrus scent when crushed.
White pine
Long, soft needles and flexible branches; choose lighter decorations.

Pre-buy and first-come harvest are different

The current online pre-buy offers a $100 tree with a minimum seven-foot tree guaranteed during open farm hours. If you cannot find a suitable tree, its posted terms offer a refund. The homepage says pre-buy closes two days before Thanksgiving. The guarantee gives you later harvest choice; it does not reserve an individually tagged tree in the field.

Ordinary unpaid harvest visits remain first come, first served.

Cocoa, doughnuts and an outdoor fire

Complimentary hot cocoa and doughnuts are described around an outdoor fire, giving families a warm-up after the field visit. The farm’s maps also point out family-photo spots.

Formal portraits, weddings and proposal sessions are different arrangements, scheduled separately through the farm’s contact or booking channel. A family snapshot during a tree visit does not establish permission for a professional session.

Make wreaths for veterans

On November 14, the farm’s free, all-ages wreath-making event runs 9am–3pm, with doors at 8:45am. Register for one two-hour volunteer shift per person. Participants make two wreaths: one to keep and one for a veteran at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Materials are supplied; bringing pruners or floral wire is helpful. Parking is free and donations are optional. Registration also joins the farm’s email newsletter, with an opt-out available. Use the event page for shift availability and the full registration terms; organizer help is available at jturner@livetreeordiefarm.com.

Parking and practical arrangements

Park along Cricket Hill Drive before the mailbox. The driveway is normally for pedestrians, with an explicit exception for disability access. That vehicle-access exception is useful to discuss with the farm, but it does not establish that the tree fields themselves are accessible. A portable toilet is available.

Dogs are not allowed.

A family planting story

John and Renee describe a family operation shaped by several generations and Renee’s Cuban-American background. The Christmas-tree planting has grown into a modest harvest where visitors walk the fields and gather around the fire.

The farm describes an organic approach, with wording that alternates between avoiding and minimizing herbicide or pesticide use. That supports an attributed growing philosophy, rather than an absolute chemical-free or certified-organic claim. The ready trees still represent years of planting and care, so the farm’s sold-out notice matters more than the presence of trees elsewhere on the property.
