Choose your Christmas tree.

Smolak’s dedicated Christmas page offers precut Fraser and balsam firs, from about 5 feet to larger trees around 14 feet. Trees are priced by size and variety. Staff can help net and secure the tree for the journey home. The latest tree notice closes the choose-and-cut field for its season, so plan around the ready-cut lot unless the farm announces a change.

The latest published ready-cut lot calendar opens November 22 and runs daily 8am–5:30pm, with Thanksgiving closed. That is a previously published season, and the same tree notice says the choose-and-cut lot is closed for that season. Confirm the next opening and field status before travelling; general farmstand hours are separate.

The farm visit.

Greenery, bakery and ice cream

Hand-decorated wreaths, kissing balls, swags, garlands and poinsettias accompany the trees. The bakery and farmstand offer cider donuts, baked goods, drinks and gifts. The farmstand lists daily 7am–6pm seasonal hours, distinct from the tree lot. Tell staff about allergies and check labels because the bakery warns about nuts and cross-contact.

Ice cream and slush are sold year round through different channels. The outdoor ice-cream stand lists June–September 11am–6pm; from October through May, ask inside the farmstand. A cold-weather ice-cream stop therefore does not depend on the outdoor stand being open.

For farmstand purchases, the published return policy requires a valid receipt within 10 days, with the item in its original packaging and condition and eligible for resale. Refunds other than for faulty goods are at management’s discretion. Special orders and baked goods that have been pre-ordered and paid in full are not refundable under that policy, whether paid online, in person or by phone.

Free playground and animal viewing

The playground and animal-viewing area are free and open year round. The farm lists fallow deer, llamas, alpacas, calves, goats, sheep, peafowl and other birds. Use only feed bought from the on-site dispensers; do not bring food from home for the animals. Check conditions on the day and supervise children around the animal enclosures.

Hop-on hayrides are a separate farm offering, with the operating date, time and fare to be checked. The published activity description does not establish a hayride included with a Christmas tree.

Story, craft and seasonal picking

Ticketed Story & Craft programs combine a story and craft with a cider donut, animal feed and a 10% farmstand coupon. Choose an announced session from the events calendar; no current ticket price or session calendar is established here. Holiday craft, cookie and other decorating events also need their own current listing and booking rather than being included automatically with a tree.

Picking has a different seasonal rhythm: strawberries around mid-June; cherries in late June and July; raspberries from July into autumn; blueberries in mid-July and August; peaches in August to mid-September; plums in August and September; apples in September and October; and pumpkins from mid-September through October. Weather and crop updates control actual availability, and none of those calendars overrides a closed Christmas choose-and-cut field.

Booked birthday parties

The published birthday package is a 90-minute program for ages 2–6 and up to 15 children, with two coordinators, games, a hayride, celebration time, juice and water, paperware and a battery candle. The barn is decorated but unheated. Published slots are 9:30–11am, 11:30am–1pm and 1:30–3pm, subject to availability. Spring/summer packages are $560 and September/October packages $645; those are separate party-season offers, not a winter tree-visit admission.

Additional children cost $25 each; more than 20 children require another staff member at $90. Optional additions include a $60 piñata, $5 donut favors, $3.50 feed bags and $14-per-child self-guided fruit picking after the party when crops are available. Food is extra: pizza is $20 cheese or $22 meat/vegetable, macaroni and cheese $50 small/$75 large, fruit $38/$68, coffee $18 per pot and donuts $18 per dozen. Picking after the party has no party host.

A nonrefundable deposit reserves the party; the balance is due before noon the day before or the party is cancelled. Parties run rain or shine. Bring only a store- or licensed-bakery cake/cupcakes; other outside food, drinks, decorations and open flames are prohibited. Arrive 15 minutes early, use designated parking and the barn drop-off arrangement, and expect portable rather than flush toilets. Gratuity is additional.

Previously published photography arrangements

Professional sessions require advance arrangements through the education team. The previously published photo policy lists $75 for the first hour Friday–Sunday and $50 per additional hour; Monday–Thursday is $50 for the first hour and $25 per additional hour. A ten-session one-hour package is $500 and a twenty-session package $700. These are previously published photography rates; confirm current fees and availability before booking.

The signed agreement must be returned at least 48 hours beforehand and full payment made in advance by card or check. Sessions are first come, first served on confirmed receipt, nonexclusive while the farm remains open to the public, and limited to 20 people including the photographer. Use designated parking and permitted areas, avoid damaging plants or blocking paths, and arrange rain rescheduling with the farm. Photography-session pets must be leashed; that permission does not establish a general pet rule for every farm activity.

Additional labor, if available, is $50 per hour. An antique vehicle or tractor prop is a separately arranged $250-per-hour service accompanied by an employee, not a visitor-operated attraction. Reserved field tours and educational groups have their own arrangements with education@smolakfarms.com.

Private events, corporate outings and weddings

Smolak customizes private showers, graduation celebrations, retirement gatherings and other events in the Pine Grove beside the Antique Apple Orchard, or the White Barn. Ask events@smolakfarms.com or 978-682-6332 extension 2 for a date, tailored arrangements and a quote.

Corporate outings can combine orchard hayrides, seasonal fruit picking, team activities and other outdoor activities. The corporate program uses four exclusive caterers, with menus planned around the season and crop schedule. These are separately arranged events; discuss the activities, catering and price with the events team.

Weddings have a separate planning team at weddings@smolakfarms.com or 978-380-8241. The published venue plan places ceremonies under the white pergola in the Antique Apple Orchard, cocktail hour in the antique barn or around the tent and Pine Grove, and receptions typically in the three-peak tent. Arrange the particular spaces, date and price with the wedding team.
