Choose your Christmas tree.
Mistletoe offers three tree choices: cut a Canaan fir or Serbian spruce in the fields, shop for precut balsam or Fraser fir, or choose a limited live potted blue spruce to plant later. Field trees are $20 per foot with a six-foot minimum; precuts start at $70, and 3–4-foot potted blue spruce starts at $300.
There is no advance tagging. Borrow one of the supplied manual hand saws or ask staff to cut your selected tree; chainsaws are prohibited. Some trees have ribbons or tags used for growing and maintenance, which do not by themselves make a tree unavailable for cutting.

The farm visit.
Processing and delivery
Shaking and drilling for a pin-style stand are complimentary. Twine wrapping and help securing the tree to the vehicle are offered; ask about any charge for those services. Delivery to the Bridgewaters and Halifax is posted at $40; ask for a quote outside that area. Field-tree and precut shopping hours differ, so use the appropriate schedule when planning a late-afternoon visit.
The barn holiday shop
The announced holiday-shop season is November 21–December 23, weekdays 10am–7pm and weekends 9am–7pm. Browse double-sided wreaths, garlands, centerpieces, kissing balls, hanging baskets, local artisan gifts and baked treats. Stand Strait and Bowling’s Last Stand systems are separate purchases.
| Selection & size | Price and conditions |
|---|---|
| Field Canaan fir / Serbian spruce | $20 per foot; six-foot minimum |
| Precut balsam / Fraser fir | From $70; size and selection vary |
| Live potted blue spruce, 3–4ft | From $300; limited selection |
| Delivery to the Bridgewaters / Halifax | $40; other areas quoted separately |
Payment, dogs and field clothing
Cash and major credit cards are accepted; checks are not. Wear sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes, long pants and suitable cold-weather layers for the natural terrain.
Keep a dog tightly leashed, beside you and under control, and bring cleanup bags. The farm advises leaving dogs uncomfortable with children, strangers, vehicles or a busy setting at home, and asks that dogs are not left unattended in cars.
Mistletoe Market and Santa photos
The announced outdoor Mistletoe Market runs November 27–29, 9am–3pm. Browse local artists and food trucks, or buy a drink from the Holiday Spirits bar and enjoy cocoa by the outdoor fire pit. Friendly leashed dogs are welcome. These are separate purchases rather than a promise of refreshments included with a tree.
Santa’s photo sessions run longer than the market on some days. The $25 package includes a printed 5×7, wallets and a digital proof; personal and cell-phone photography are not allowed during this offering.
| Dates | Photo hours | Package |
|---|---|---|
| November 27–29 | 10am–5pm | $25; printed 5×7, wallets and digital proof |
| December 4 | 3pm–7pm | Same package; no personal/cell-phone photos |
| December 5 | 10am–5pm | Same package |
| December 6 | 10am–3pm | Same package |
Arrange a separate photography session
Professional and serious hobby sessions require advance booking and a current certificate of insurance. Standard outdoor half-day access usually lasts 4–5 hours and may be shared with two or three other photographers unless exclusive use is arranged. Weekends require half-day slots; most non-holiday weekdays can be requested at $50 per hour. The antique Ol’ Blue Dodge truck costs an additional $350, is reserved for one photographer per slot and cannot be moved.
Sessions are not refunded for weather, cancellations or absent clients; unsafe conditions may be rescheduled when space allows. Park at 254 Whitman Street, keep roads clear, avoid newly planted fields and stay out of the house, yards and barns. Do not climb equipment; keep animals leashed and clean up. Restrooms may be unavailable for photo sessions.
Private functions and weddings
The timber-frame barn is also a separately booked venue with heating, air conditioning, indoor restrooms, a courtyard and covered patio. It seats 120 indoors; up to 200 requires an additional tent and portable-restroom rental. Functions include four hours, with at most one extra paid hour and an 11pm finish.
Wedding receptions run five hours and end by 10pm, with one event per day and a coordinator. A one-hour ceremony, fire-pit use and bar packages are optional additions. Bring a licensed, insured caterer; there is no on-site kitchen. Request a package quote for the date and services you need. These booked facilities do not establish access or restroom availability throughout the public tree fields.
Compare the field and precut varieties
The farm’s varieties differ in more than how you bring them home. Canaan fir has sturdy branches for moderately heavy ornaments; Serbian spruce has strong, draping branches but sheds sooner after cutting. In the precut range, balsam brings a strong traditional scent and suits lighter ornaments, while Fraser has sturdier branches and stronger needle retention.
Choose the individual tree for its shape and the ornaments you plan to hang. The farm’s care-dependent lifespan examples are not a guarantee for a tree kept warm or allowed to dry out.
| Tree choice | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Field Canaan fir | Dark glossy needles; sturdy branches for moderately heavy ornaments |
| Field Serbian spruce | Silvery needle undersides; strong draping branches; shorter needle retention |
| Precut balsam fir | Strong fragrance; branches best suited to lighter ornaments |
| Precut Fraser fir | Sturdy branches and strong needle retention |
