Rocky Mountain pine

Lodgepole pine is the native cut-tree option, with a narrow outline and natural cones.

Farm-grown firs

Compare Douglas, Noble and Nordmann for fullness, branch spacing and fragrance.

A living potted tree

Plan a brief indoor display of no more than five to seven days, then protected outdoor care and later planting.

The nursery brings together native Lodgepole pines harvested in the Rocky Mountains and farm-grown Douglas, Noble and Nordmann firs. Fresh-cut trees are displayed inside the nursery rather than in its front parking lot, so head into the store to start your search. Staff can help you compare the different shapes and the range of available sizes.

A Lodgepole pine has a narrow, upright outline, long needles and natural cones for a distinctly Colorado look. Douglas fir gives a fuller, bushier shape and a sweet evergreen scent. Noble fir has strong, evenly spaced branches for heavier ornaments, while Nordmann's soft dark-green needles and lower fragrance offer another way to choose. An earlier nursery guide also described Alpine fir as a harder-to-find high-elevation choice. It is absent from the current four-species tree list, so ask whether it is available rather than expecting it in the new selection.

A living tree for after Christmas

A potted living tree can decorate a porch or patio and later become part of your landscape. Keep it in a cool, shady place protected from severe wind before its short indoor visit. Fort Collins Nursery recommends no more than five to seven days in a warm house, with small cool lights or LEDs, so the tree does not break dormancy too soon.

After Christmas, return it to a sheltered outdoor place or an unheated building, insulating the container's roots with mulch when useful. Water periodically when the root ball is not frozen, then plant in spring once the ground thaws. This is a different commitment from buying a cut tree: leave room for the pot and a plan for moving it back outdoors.

Choose a wreath that fits your doorway

The wreaths are locally made with Rocky Mountain greenery. Choose a Traditional A, B or C, Celebration B, Decorated Greenery or Citrus design, then discuss ribbon and ornament choices with the team. There are also one-off designs in the store. Compare the finished wreath diameter with your doorway: the ring itself is smaller than the greenery.

Standard designs use 8in, 12in and 16in rings. The larger rings below require a special order. Greenery for custom decorations is expected during the week of November 16; the broader greenery selection is mostly expected by November 26. Confirm availability and pre-order arrangements for the item you want before collecting.

Order by phone or visit the design team in person without an appointment, naming your preferred style and ribbon color. Orders are for pickup or separately arranged local delivery; online ordering and shipping are no longer offered.

Custom sprays and holiday table centerpieces

For a table arrangement, choose candle and ornament colors and a ribbon style. Candle count depends on the centerpiece’s size; ribbon can be omitted for a more natural finish. Dried lotus pods, citrus, grass seedheads and eucalyptus can be requested, with the price reflecting your customizations.

Handmade sprays combine Douglas and Noble fir, Princess pine and cedar. Small sprays measure 18–24in, medium 24–30in and large 30–36in; they can hang on a door or lie horizontally on a mantel. Traditional and Celebration styles are described, with options subject to supply.

For custom centerpieces and sprays, the published greenery expectation is the week of November 16, distinct from the broader greenery selection expected mostly by November 26. Ask the design team for the finished price and availability, ordering by phone or in person without an appointment. Pickup or local delivery is available by arrangement; shipping and online orders are not offered.

Greenery, patio pots and flowering gifts

For decorating beyond the tree, compare garlands, bundled boughs and fancy greens, with custom orders available for several greenery categories. The nursery has also described handmade patio pots using fresh evergreen boughs, cones, holly and bows in recycled chrysanthemum pots. Ask about the current designs and availability before planning a porch display around one.

Poinsettias and holiday cactus offer flowering gifts or another way to decorate indoors; first shipments are expected during the week of November 9. Poinsettias span traditional red through pale, warm and patterned colors, while holiday cactus adds pink, white, violet and apricot choices. Cyclamen and flowering bulbs are also part of the published holiday range.

For a growing gift, look for amaryllis, including waxed and gift-box options, paperwhites or pre-chilled hyacinths. These are separate retail purchases, with care and flowering-time guidance available from the nursery; confirm the current varieties and prices rather than treating an older product description as a stock list.

Holiday delivery and optional setup

Holiday delivery has its own two-zone schedule for cut trees, living potted trees and greenery. Confirm which holiday zone covers your address and whether your cut tree requires a one- or two-person crew before accepting the quote. Cut-tree prices below cover drop-off only; setup can be requested for an additional fee and must be scheduled with the delivery team.

Wreaths, poinsettias and other small items include garland, bundled boughs and potted trees of #5 size or smaller. Larger live potted trees have the separate delivery rate shown below. Call or visit the nursery to arrange the items, destination and delivery date.

Santa and an evening Holiday Blues Market

Santa visits the nursery on November 28, 10am–3pm. Bring your own camera or phone for photographs, and children can bring their Christmas wish lists. The surrounding November 27–29 weekend has specials on selected holiday and gardening items; check the announced offers rather than assuming a particular tree discount.

The Holiday Blues Market on December 3 runs 4–6:30pm, extending beyond ordinary store closing time. Grant Sabin provides live blues, Mrs. Claus makes a special visit, and an Art Mart brings local vendors and artisans together with trees, poinsettias and handmade wreaths. Further market details are still being announced.

Discounts and Garden Club points

Regular-price customer discounts include 10% on Tuesdays for eligible shoppers aged 55 or older, 10% for eligible U.S. military service members, veterans and immediate family, and 10% for regional Botanic Garden members. Bring military ID or the Botanic Garden membership card where applicable and check eligibility with the cashier.

Discounts do not combine. Sale purchases receive the best applicable discount, and discounted merchandise does not earn loyalty points. Garden Club members earn one point for each $25 spent on full-price merchandise before sales tax; each point is worth 50 cents. Once you have at least ten points, they can be redeemed on a future purchase of $5 or more.

Tell the cashier you are a member. Labor and gift-card purchases do not earn points, and points cannot be redeemed for cash, credit, labor, gift cards or event tickets. Membership benefits require a purchase each calendar year; points and cards are not transferable.

Browse indoors and plan a family stop

The greenhouse and garden shop provide nearly 17,000 sq ft of indoor shopping, alongside outdoor nursery browsing. Tropicals, bonsai, cacti, gardening tools, books and seeds give a gardener plenty to compare. The holiday gift selection also extends to earrings, miniature toys, pet accessories, lotions, socks, vintage-style posters and puzzles.

Ornament themes have included woodland animals, pets, pollinators, Colorado designs, classic red and white, and retro decorations. Snow globes, nutcrackers, gnomes and other seasonal pieces broaden the indoor shopping stop; check the current selection rather than relying on an older collection photograph.

The facilities guide lists a children’s playground. Ask whether it is open for the conditions on your winter visit before making it part of the day.
